Home-schooling: Wednesday September 6 2017

Our days are usually filled with chaos and fun!!!

Today we are starting off with homeschooling. My oldest started school at 8:15. Now to me homeschooling is about preparing for life, so Logan sets his alarm to get up and he gets his own breakfast (usually cereal or a bagel) and then we begin school.

I try and keep our days laid back, while Logan is doing school Dylan and Mackenzie go play. Then if Logan is reading or doing some school on his own I can start with Dylan and sometimes both him and Mackenzie.
Mackenzie loves to learn and follow what I am doing with Dylan. When we are learning about time or he is reading she will copy what he is doing. Thankfully he doesn't seem to get to annoyed.

So the question I always get is how do you balance everything; and let me tell you it is not easy. They are all on such different levels. Logan is our most dramatic child and he can change from happy to mad in a second. This makes things very difficult. And some days it is easy to get into our groove and other days I wake up thinking I really don't want to do school. But I push forward. The best way for me to be most productive is a task lists. Sitting down the night before and writing out everything I need to do for the next day. Some days it just has school and some chores that need to be done. Other days it will be a whole list. And of course I do not always do my task list and that makes for a less productive day!

The other questions I get is why do I home-school and how can I be around them all that time lol!! I home-school because I want to give my kids the best education that I can and not just book smart but to prepare them for life. I do not feel like a school environment does this. I also want our children to understand that what we read in scripture is absolute truth, evolution and the big bang theory is just false information, we are able to teach that. They still learn about those but they learn them as some people believe this but the Bible tells us this is untrue.
As far as how can I be with them all the time my question is why would I not? Yes, some days are hard but I want to watch my kids grow, they grow so fast, I want to watch our kids learn it is so rewarding. It doesn't even take a year to see progress. At one moment they are struggling with something such as reading or writing and the next thing you know they "get" it and they are reading chapter books, and writing stories! Nothing is more rewarding than to watch a child believe in themselves!

Here is Logan doing his school for the day!!!
